CHEM 111 Advanced General Chemistry
An introduction to the fundamental chemical concepts with emphasis on problem solving, conceptual understanding and analytical reasoning. Discussion will include an array of topics from fields such as environmental and biological chemistry that illuminate the role chemistry plays in determining the world around us. The laboratory program focuses on collection and interpretation of empirical data. The course is intended as a one-semester alternative to the one-year general chemistry sequence for students with significant previous background in chemistry. Lecture, three hours; laboratory, three hours.
