Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Bethel Sharma Seballos, has recently been recognized by the American Chemical Society as an official ACS Chemistry Ambassador. What does this recognition mean? Chemistry Ambassadors make chemistry more accessible to members of their communities – from college students to elementary classrooms to community outreach events – pointing out chemistry’s relevance to everyday life. Professor Seballos is currently the faculty advisor to the Sewanee Chemistry Club, affectionately known as the Hydrogen Club or “H-Club”. While the club works year-round on campus and in local schools, their biggest event occurs every spring when the club hosts a chemistry demonstration show in Blackman Auditorium for the community. All students, whether or not they are chemistry majors are welcome to participate.
