Incoming Freshmen Conduct Summer Research in the Chemistry Department

Bridge Students 2015Three members of the Class of 2019 got an early start at Sewanee by spending six weeks on campus this summer, conducting research in the Chemistry Department. Hannah-Marie Garcia of Charleston, South Carolina, Madison Meyer of Dunlap, Tennessee, and Scott Stewart of Hixson, Tennessee participated in Sewanee’s Research Bridge Program.Bridge Students 2015
‌Hannah-Marie did research in Dr. Emily White’s environmental chemistry lab. Her project focused on water quality monitoring in Sewanee's wastewater lagoons and the surrounding streams. Madison and Scott worked with Dr. Bethel Seballos on a biochemistry project. For their research, a model of pulmonary fibrosis was investigated using a cell culture system.
