Southeast Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society (SERMACS)

The Southeast Region of the American Chemical Society (ACS) encompasses members in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, and Puerto Rico.  Each fall the Southeast Region hosts a meeting in a different location.  Students are encouraged to attend these meetings and present their research, meet chemistry students from other institutions, attend career-building workshops, or participate in activities specifically tailored to the needs of undergraduates.  Becoming a member of the Sewanee SAACS and a national member of ACS guarantees students reduced registration fees for this meeting.  For many years Sewanee faculty have organized group trips to the meetings, which have been held in places like Clemson, SC, Raleigh, NC, New Orleans, LA (joint meeting with Southwest Region), Savannah, GA, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
